Grant’s remixing career began in 1999 with six mixes for Glasgow indie stars ‘AC Acoustics’. As well as mixing the tracks from their album, ‘Understanding Music’, he performed a live remix with the band on Radio One. The remixes ,which featured on the B-Side of the single ‘Crush’, received excellent reviews from NME, resulting in Grant (as McSleazy)being named as Scotland’s ‘Artist of the Month’.
Remixes of Franz Ferdinand / Beastie Boys were released by Half Inch Recordings and topped HMV’s London charts. The mixes made Q’s Top 100 songs of the year.
After Grant’s mix of the Charlatans were played prior to an Oasis gig at Finsbury Park, the Charlatans met up with Grant at his regular slot as NME Stage DJ at T in the Park. This led to Grant becoming tour DJ support for the band and Grant remixing their single ‘You Cross My Path’.
Grant mixed the official Popjustice album – the first ever release on Fascination records – featuring exclusive tracks from Britney Spears and Girls Aloud. (The Pet Shop Boys used this album as the warm-up for their North American Tour.)
Grant has also provided official remixes for Foals, Christina Aguilera, Manda Rin (Bis), The Mania (Xenomania), A Band Called Quinn and many others.
